This week: We realized the kids are so over the trampoline, so we got rid of it. It freed up space for them to invent all kinds of new games with trucks (that made a comeback) :: I told a story of R's bear making a postal services trip back home (after we forgot him on our visit to Durban) ::</div>

I actually didn't have that many photo's this week. For this I keep a Pending file of photo's that didn't fit into other weeks, photo's that can fit into any week of our lives really, like the Leggo one. A constant part of the story here :: I also took a photo of some kind comments by R's teacher on his school report. I usually file their report cards into PL. If I ever get around to making them their own school PL albums, these will just be transferred there :: We had a chance to fit in a me&him movie date too this week (that I remember), and went to see Philomena. We both love anything Judy Dench :: Fun to include the cute school shoes tag for L's first pair. </div>

I'm still playing around with the <a href="http://www.twosons.blogspot.com/2014/06/living-with-photos-brass-pendant.html">Brass Pendants</a> I shared about yesterday. This time I decided to use some art in my photo block... <em>(scroll right down for a tutorial)</em></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, playing with the pendants, I thought it might make nice gifts to translate the paintings into jewelry (if I don't keep them all). I photographed the ladies and put them into the frames. Perhaps I can give the painting with the pendant? I'm also thinking about one or two displaying the kids art...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>I also promised a quick tutorial: </em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To make up your pendant, you will firstly need a <a href="http://www.twosons.blogspot.com/2014/06/living-with-photos-brass-pendant.html">Pendant Kit,</a> and a photo. The sizing of the photo might be the hardest part. If you have any photo editing skills, you can square crop your photo and then drag it onto another page sized to the size you'll be printing (measure the size of your other already printed photo's.) Then size your square photo (for the pendant) to 25x25mm. Save and print. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once you have your little square photo cut out you can glue it inside the pendant. Leave it to dry for about an hour. Then apply some glue to the face of your photo, attach the glass, and leave to dry. The recommended glue is: Diamond Glaze or Pratley Glo. I tried some high quality Modge Podge and it came out a <em>little</em> streaky. Once dry you can string through your chain and it's ready to go. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

Hello there! If you're new here, welcome! The first thing that you might notice about me (and if you've been here longer you might know), is that I love photo's! I'm taking almost daily photo's and documenting our story in Project Life. This year I am also intentional about getting more of them out of my computer and into my life. </div>

Recently I ordered a kit pack of antique brass finish photo necklaces from overseas. It comes in a DIY kit, including an oval link chain, a glass tile and a square 25x25mm pendant. A beautiful way to hold on a bit longer to those moments.</div>

So excited, and a little nervous, to announce that I'm starting a little endeavour. My heart's desire is to make jewelry somewhere down the road, and this is the humble start of great plans. Being me I will most probably not stick to jewelry only. I definitely want combine it with my love of photo's and words and life documenting. And a few other crafts thrown in. I'd be so delighted to take you along on the journey. You can follow me here or send me an e-mail at <a href="mailto:apost@telkomsa.net">apost@telkomsa.net</a> to put your name on my mailing list. My first product should be up tomorrow.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hello ten days later... In addition to my normal weekly spread for this week (see previous post), I created an additional spread. This tells the story of a Boot camp party the kids attended. As I said in my previous post, I realised that I probably could have just included one photo and called it good, but alas, there were too many that I loved...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHDOnhPCSJfudBm8vkahedpxDfWIouiW-62Pl3_EK3fj_2yFdPPy02YZc2cW8JLHU34_75OSwdYQvZH-pE9r3HnkVOBWPl1BMVhEJbvWulD4apHc4KvepZMQkleaPQNRhv7epKJVmBEg/s1600/IMG_5257k.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHDOnhPCSJfudBm8vkahedpxDfWIouiW-62Pl3_EK3fj_2yFdPPy02YZc2cW8JLHU34_75OSwdYQvZH-pE9r3HnkVOBWPl1BMVhEJbvWulD4apHc4KvepZMQkleaPQNRhv7epKJVmBEg/s1600/IMG_5257k.JPG" height="202" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hence a whole extra spread, AND a half page insert! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Boot camp card came from their party packs, kit cards are all from the BH Coral kit, and Word Art is from Ali Edwards. I can't find the "Have heart" freebie on my <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/alidap/pl-freebies-and-card-ideas/">Pinerest board</a> now, but I think it was probably also from Ali. The blank card is for a song they sang while drilling, still need to write it down.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivxYkZQQ1sj1DvU7zwmInje4QIjbHq_LFj6l3prnwS6C-_BQNhP0g0L3f7JWf3MUWSQCqvoE7AjDd3BSTPcMd7YrXXKNEfOhic1hi8poIfAXpqqi-A7G2Eu0HcbxjdEC1tk9ggWSxKfQ/s1600/IMG_5245k.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivxYkZQQ1sj1DvU7zwmInje4QIjbHq_LFj6l3prnwS6C-_BQNhP0g0L3f7JWf3MUWSQCqvoE7AjDd3BSTPcMd7YrXXKNEfOhic1hi8poIfAXpqqi-A7G2Eu0HcbxjdEC1tk9ggWSxKfQ/s1600/IMG_5245k.JPG" height="319" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This page tells the story of them getting their war paint on. Then doing some warm-up exercises. At this point Liam was wiping away tears and I thought this isn't for him, only to learn later that he was bumped over with the running, but kept going tears and all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then there was <em>this </em>amazing moment: They were all told to freeze. Who-ever moved had to drop down. The Sarge - who was really a lot of fun and excellent in bringing the team together - was walking around trying to see who moves. They went one after the other. When he came past Liam, he suddenly yelled in his face, but to everyone's astonishment, my Lionheart didn't blink an eye. Nope, taking his STAND.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He was so seriously into the whole thing, it was too precious. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then they were off to a run through the bush. Waving their Mommas goodbye and singing as they went. I followed at a distance with the camera...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0fDzcu6wAT0Xynml1GbZ35cK_o9LNxSlnRXO8r-HC8lFQbuZhZNm35QarthBdhsFmvK_P6eLZupIHDfvQ9-zS7DNHLFxBZtd5EEQU_MEBpllCmpYB4-w21hyd91OZwlYKLGT1aeLNTg/s1600/IMG_5252k.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0fDzcu6wAT0Xynml1GbZ35cK_o9LNxSlnRXO8r-HC8lFQbuZhZNm35QarthBdhsFmvK_P6eLZupIHDfvQ9-zS7DNHLFxBZtd5EEQU_MEBpllCmpYB4-w21hyd91OZwlYKLGT1aeLNTg/s1600/IMG_5252k.JPG" height="260" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They so enjoyed themselves, and by the time they came back from their forest hike, the team has bonded and the Sarge could take them over a wall if he wanted to. After some snacks they were ready for the obstacle course that was also met with a lot of zeal. Finally time to pass out and the parents was asked to join. And then it was time for cake and party for the mud covered troops.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week actually runs over two pages with the second spread containing more photo's of a Boot camp party we attended. When putting it together I thought that I probably could have just told the Boot camp story on the insert included here, and called it good. But as per usual, at the time when selecting the photo's there were too many I didn't want to leave out. For the insert I used Ali's 6.6 x 12 Words and photo's template. Loving them right now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The challenge this week was that our geyser leaked, resulting not only in a big hole in the ceiling, but also in the ceiling entrance hanging in pieces when it gave way upon inspecting the geyser.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY-mA6JHcWMwkL5XCTvP0FMiq-QQCuyp6It_3KiqL6Julq3E5pfYYE0EG9WHaaufiKK_nmqCMet5oYjJNpJiUJa9DYOY6CeNC27qPAum6eLpep66qjhUIP8ctdBr_YmOhMg7NmJdz8Jw/s1600/IMG_5073p.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY-mA6JHcWMwkL5XCTvP0FMiq-QQCuyp6It_3KiqL6Julq3E5pfYYE0EG9WHaaufiKK_nmqCMet5oYjJNpJiUJa9DYOY6CeNC27qPAum6eLpep66qjhUIP8ctdBr_YmOhMg7NmJdz8Jw/s1600/IMG_5073p.JPG" height="392" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But with a long week-end thrown in this week was redeemed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgILz6NgfbZutaWQ8fgsb8nE9rO-e3z8j3lNSzdj30GMyvFMpDUXhUs5wHq5i8rApzsttE_6toOPMn94bEPTfL8WL0zGHgDl3mc67KQtNQds67i5c0yTH872AmNh4j5mncRcHDoGwb42w/s1600/IMG_5097p.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgILz6NgfbZutaWQ8fgsb8nE9rO-e3z8j3lNSzdj30GMyvFMpDUXhUs5wHq5i8rApzsttE_6toOPMn94bEPTfL8WL0zGHgDl3mc67KQtNQds67i5c0yTH872AmNh4j5mncRcHDoGwb42w/s1600/IMG_5097p.JPG" height="206" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here's a look at the flip side.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
More Boot camp photo's to follow in the next post.</div>

Wow, I can't believe I'm still not nearly caught -up on my PL posts. Life keeps getting in the way, and that's a good thing I suppose. Well, here we have Week 10 - 16 March. When it rained a lot...</div>

That heart shaped leaf was a little gift and a reminder that you could still give your beauty to others, even when things aren't looking up for yourself...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not that I was feeling all saintly and superwomen that week, nor sufficiently grateful for the rain. When I see that hand stamped card saying "rain rain and more rain" I remember loads of wet washing that had nowhere to go but all over the house...ahh perspective. Something that's been giving me wonderful perspective is this daily devotional called <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Whispers-Hope-Weeks-Devotional-Prayer/dp/1433681099">Whispers of hope</a> by Beth Moore. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The "heart this" card was a limited time freebie once from Carla Dudley. </div>

Here- more everyday details. I previously blogged on my morning <a href="http://www.twosons.blogspot.com/2014/03/for-love-of-lino.html">learning Lino printmaking.</a> The last photo is my man's hand making us scones every Sunday morning..."Good stuff" also cut from a Carla Dudley card. "Real Life" was a freebie from Ali Edwards. Word art also Ali.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then I need to tell you about my recent discovery. She's a bestseller, and when I came across her on Pinterest I knew I've heard the name before, but it's the first time I went to her blog...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
BLEW ME AWAY. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm talking about <a href="http://www.aholyexperience.com/">Ann Voskamp.</a> Watching <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhOUaszMGvQ">this video about her book, One thousand Gifts,</a> affirmed again for me why I was doing Project Life: It's about being awake to all the moments, all the gifts from Above that is the bits of my life. And to live with a attitude of gratitude towards all this everyday beauty. To <em>see</em> the blessings pouring down...even when it rains.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've been meaning to share another project where I actually got photo's off my computer and into my life. Then I realised that this could be a really nice (and quick) Mother's day solution for older kids or even made by yourself for your own Mom. I recently made this oven clay Polaroid pendant inspired by <a href="http://craftgawker.com/post/2014/03/21/62828/">this post.</a> In the tutorial she advises that it's messy and to rather just buy one that make it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well I'm happy to report that I found it quite do-able. I think I've been fortunate that my clay was pliable and easy to work with. I used Scuplty (picked up in Jhb at Seedpod studio in Broadacres). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But first the photo: I used <a href="http://poladroid.net/">Poladroid,</a> (a free fun program to digitally turn your photo's into polaroid looking images. I love that it even makes the sound of a Polaroid as it processes images) Turned some photo's into Poladroids and then moved a few photo's onto a blank page to make them the size I wanted before printing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi65bgvo6HapajQKUxToaaKsTHGvTv9fCcvNi3xvdoCSOJc0SgxP-VfHBayg82UTzCGbYTZJMRPRR3VJltyPa5Km3f3iISWgbGmq13FnzqnkcqRTF9WIhfERjuCzXsfEUZVUQCcy-YFHg/s1600/IMG_4674.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi65bgvo6HapajQKUxToaaKsTHGvTv9fCcvNi3xvdoCSOJc0SgxP-VfHBayg82UTzCGbYTZJMRPRR3VJltyPa5Km3f3iISWgbGmq13FnzqnkcqRTF9WIhfERjuCzXsfEUZVUQCcy-YFHg/s1600/IMG_4674.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made mine a lot smaller than the tutorial, as you can see in the image above. Just how I prefer it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I noticed that the clay shrunk a little in the oven. I'd suggest making a template by drawing around your photo but with your pen at a bit of an angle to make it slightly bigger. Then do the outer line of the "polaroid". Template done. I didn't have glass to work on, so I used a tile (from my mosaic stash). Worked great. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I applied some wax to my hands, the rolling pin and tile before I started. Not sure if it helped, but I didn't really have a problem with sticky clay. I used special clay wax, but I suppose hair, lip or cuticle wax would work fine. Keep the clay you're not using sealed or under a wet cloth to keep it from drying out. I rolled out the clay, and cut out the templates. I was a bit quick to move the part with the window onto the solid block, but since it was still soft I could correct any dents I made. This was also the time where I placed the ringlet between the two layers to attach it to the chain later.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then placed it into the oven still on the tile. Baked it according to the instructions. It was completely loose from the tile when it came out. I used sanding paper to sand it neater. I didn't go for perfect edges as this is supposed to look handmade. Later painted it with white cutex and added the photo. I accidentally dropped my pendant on a hard floor and it was completely undamaged. Hardens really well. And a fun piece of jewelry. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOLPbRLmehSbiGfvj9jMrceDuTJ5MkJmgjezQM2S7642M4rqSsmAuGU87GaGxybglF9_yTtEewqsiJifn0gtYmQISOU520OK8pJ5Jjs5nXtcjMiLR4nQsIMV7zK8OwL_NxD1RReJIWgw/s1600/IMG_3062.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOLPbRLmehSbiGfvj9jMrceDuTJ5MkJmgjezQM2S7642M4rqSsmAuGU87GaGxybglF9_yTtEewqsiJifn0gtYmQISOU520OK8pJ5Jjs5nXtcjMiLR4nQsIMV7zK8OwL_NxD1RReJIWgw/s1600/IMG_3062.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's another really quick and easy project that even younger kids can try: Photo candle glasses. I made it some time ago inspired by many similar projects on Pinterest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You will need : A photocopied image. It has to be laser copy, inkjet won't work. High contrast works best, and your end product will be a mirror image of the original, so you might want to turn your photo around before printing. A roll of broad cellotape. A patterned image from a magazine. A glass or clear jar. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Measure your glass. Open your cellotape to the same length. Stick images on top. The patterned images are really handy here when your photo might be too short, and very pretty alongside the photo.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Dampen your strip and work the paper off with your fingers. The images will remain on the cellotape. It should still be sticky enough to apply onto the glass, or else you can use some modge podge to glue it on. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEcfiuQtOYFrj6x2Ksrmz8F5bPIhl8q8hVVRJmiqPa6cwo1bnS4Fiyb-h4ookt_2hCgylBi4yUxBT2fMYhsejP-pu2vXxmIAnB7d28ZoEzeRi7QHG74HATKBWcmQlsyP16tOfgsk6a2Q/s1600/IMG_2936b.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEcfiuQtOYFrj6x2Ksrmz8F5bPIhl8q8hVVRJmiqPa6cwo1bnS4Fiyb-h4ookt_2hCgylBi4yUxBT2fMYhsejP-pu2vXxmIAnB7d28ZoEzeRi7QHG74HATKBWcmQlsyP16tOfgsk6a2Q/s1600/IMG_2936b.JPG" height="312" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Easy, and looks great with a candle lit inside. Or even just like that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>Wishing</em> <em>you</em> <em>a</em> <em>wonderful</em> <em>Mother's</em> <em>day</em> this Sunday. I loved <a href="http://www.aholyexperience.com/2014/05/why-mothers-day-is-really-just-for-the-birds/">this post</a> on real Motherhood by Ann Voskamp. And these words by Stacy Eldredge in her book, Captivating:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"As large as the role is that our mothers play, the word mother is more powerful when used as a verb than as a noun. All women are not mothers, but all women are called to mother. To mother is to nurture, to train, to educate, to rear. As daughters of Eve, all women are uniquely gifted to help others in their lives become more of who they truly are - to encourage, to nurture, and mother them toward their true selves. In doing this women partner with Christ in the vital mission of bringing forth life."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Yes, we're well into May here. It's a glorious autumn day as I sit blogging in a corner of the garden. A chance discovery as I wanted to be out of the house while our ceiling's finally being repaired and about half of it is currently on my diningroom floor...sigh. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is also Election Day here which means hubby is sitting with me here in the garden, and we'll go and vote a little later. <em>But</em> <em>for this post</em> we're jumping right back to the last week of last year...</div>

That would be the day after Christmas and on. I have one and a half more pages to go to finish this album. With my last bulk printing trip they somehow didn't print those, so they'll have to follow later. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Boxing day we were packing to leave for Mpumalanga. We stayed at a lodge near my hubby's site for two weeks. Journaling idea: Record the music you like to travel on. We were listening to Philip Philips, and an old traveling favourite of ours, the soundtrack of Juno on our four hour drive. I'm a collector of heart shaped stones, and I was thrilled with this huge heart shaped rock my man found on one of our walks in the reserve. The photo of me was taken in front of our cabin and the white in the background is the river- wonderfully close.</div>

This was a place I probably never would have put on my destination list, but I ended up loving the African Bush and the time of deep rest. You'll see me sitting with my laptop, but I hardly had any reception, so mostly read and swam and took some afternoon naps. Bliss. And the kids had a great time too. Hi there, I'm sharing the last of the pages from the beginning of 2014 not yet shared. Cover page still needs to be completed at some stage, hopefully before I move on to the next album.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was apprehensive about staying here, but completely fell in love with the peacefulness of the bush. The lodge was really quiet over December, so we had the roads on the reserve (great for morning walks and bike rides) and the huge pool all to ourselves.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These were taken at the Horse shoe falls (near Sabie). I trimmed down that kit card to fit to the back of the clothing tag. Ali Edwards word art (I love picking up her weekly 99c special at <a href="http://www.designerdigitals.com/digital-scrapbooking/supplies/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Ali+Edwards+Design&x=0&y=0">Designer Digitals</a> - every Thursday). <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And on this page we hiked the beautiful forest to a third waterfall, Bridal Veil. I was amazed by the force of the water and the breeze and constant waves of mist it created. The last photo is one of my all time favourites, taken on our way back to the cabin when we stopped for coffee at a country venue. I think it was called Misty Mountain. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And that's <em>probably</em> enough gushing on my favourite day of this year <em>so</em> <em>far</em>.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hi there, welcome to my second page of our New Year's day, 2014. There is actually 3 spreads on New Year's day. Yes, I was very trigger happy on that day- waterfalls have that effect on me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At that point we were staying at a lodge near where my husband is currently on site. We took the hour or so drive through to the Sabie area. The drive itself was high altitude and very scenic with lots of Pine plantations along the way. But I wasn't quite prepared for the beauty we encountered that day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCSEam9RUP4kgNWed_v5eLAJMh30xEIa_0GzZnFO3f3UI06y-DiPdrWq8A7TGZQseKHZVXLUBr6IXaohwwyCJiNlugu0FCD3oMAFE1W1gKYe3TRYfd_tK9U7AtFFTovZg6HkFzOxKCgQ/s1600/IMG_4331k.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCSEam9RUP4kgNWed_v5eLAJMh30xEIa_0GzZnFO3f3UI06y-DiPdrWq8A7TGZQseKHZVXLUBr6IXaohwwyCJiNlugu0FCD3oMAFE1W1gKYe3TRYfd_tK9U7AtFFTovZg6HkFzOxKCgQ/s1600/IMG_4331k.JPG" height="201" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't use a lot of words on the spread, because as they say, a picture is worth, you know... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yeah, just let the photo's talk...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp6kiywXB6tHjroaW5e54nulcKemX1OdRDUmEv2f-ZrACCMcRnAnuxJe1giuOqEkJWjVJYEC3sYr5zrvoB_irWzpNm0zgnQZehsLIEiFb1LD5caruDVmtso0fORd6ureNHcvZlI5RCxQ/s1600/IMG_4376k.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp6kiywXB6tHjroaW5e54nulcKemX1OdRDUmEv2f-ZrACCMcRnAnuxJe1giuOqEkJWjVJYEC3sYr5zrvoB_irWzpNm0zgnQZehsLIEiFb1LD5caruDVmtso0fORd6ureNHcvZlI5RCxQ/s1600/IMG_4376k.JPG" height="400" width="396" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used some number stickers from my old Cobalt kit to number the waterfalls (we hiked one, drove to another, etc. three in total, all close to each other). The first one was Lone Creek Falls. One could go to the bottom of the falls and the top right photo was taken of us standing in the spray. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took most of the photo's with the little Nikon, as it has a wider lens, but at times I took out my big Canon. It hasn't been the same since and now only has one focus point working since that day. I'm guessing it was all the moisture in the air there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The cabins was at the second waterfall, Horseshoe. Would love to stay there one day. We found a secluded spot where the kids could swim in the clear water. On the b&w photo you can see a waterfall in the background, there's actually two going around a rock. We looked at it and said ahh, "Horseshoe"...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>Word art is from Ali (available at Designer Digitals). January card was a freebie.</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After enough rock jumping and swimming in the river, we hiked further up, and then suddenly found ourselves standing at the top looking down at the incredible sight of the <em>actual</em> Horse shoe...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A big double waterfall cascading into a pond before it goes downriver and splits into the second twin waterfall we saw earlier (number 2 on the photo).</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here I used a normal album protector trimmed down to hold the A4 enlargements. Folded over a lip and stapled it. And then a added a strip of paper (just glued on), to cover the staples and add some journaling. I got the idea from <a href="http://instagram.com/p/lNns-CFTKc/">CT member, Juli Jones.</a> (who used tape. <em>Ps</em>: Love her pages).</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here you can see the card where I name the waterfalls next to their number. Clothing tag was from the shirt I was wearing. The wooden photo was taken against the wooden huts you saw on the previous page. Transparency from Lilypad. Sun flare photo's: - <em>so</em> <em>my favourite</em>, especially if it has two waterfalls in the background. <em>hehe.</em></div>

I'm rewinding back to the beginning of the year and sharing some pages that I haven't posted yet. </div>

This one covers New Year's day. </div>

It was one of the rare days T wasn't working (he was working 7 days a week at that point). We spent the day in the beautiful Sabie area hiking three waterfalls, so lots of photo's (there's also another spread for this day). </div>

This page covers making travel food in our cabin's outdoor kitchen, and the drive there. We had breakfast in the picnic area of Lone Creek falls, and then took the walk to the falls.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The wonderful "twenty fourteen" is a freebie from Paisly Press I <em>think</em>. I've scrolled through my <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/alidap/pl-freebies-and-card-ideas/">PL freebies board</a> but can't locate it now. "Great day" cut from a (Coral)kit card.</div>

I'm currently working through a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Whispers-Hope-Weeks-Devotional-Prayer/dp/1433681099">prayer journal</a> by Beth Moore (Whispers of Hope- 10 Weeks of devotional prayer) and I love every bit of it. Think the following piece was very relevant for Easter:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"...The Spirit birthed the church in the hearts of eyewitnesses- people who saw Christ with their own eyes and touched Him with their own hands. John watched as Jesus was transfigured on the mountain. He saw Christ raise the dead, He heard Jesus foretell His suffering and death on the cross; then he watched in horror at the fulfilment of every detail. He saw Mary Magdalene's expression when she came with the news of the empty tomb. He ran to see the evidence for himself. Later John gathered with the other disciples behind locked doors when Christ appeared among them. He saw Christ pierced hands and side with his own eyes..........</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
....Eyewitnesses. They watched their risen Saviour ascend into the heavens then lived the rest of their days on the passionate certainty of what they had seen...and touched...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...They didn't just believe, they knew...". Beth Moore.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>So looking forward to this Easter long week-end. May your time be special and blessed. </em></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlDZKXgBwZrXHWp91Ug34wjF0Rwj9uHpmjgFop2aBHq7XRoXluD4iYLWa96Jwk1_GMpDFAeAmJ8W4cWKpQERV0DLW5Fc_Z_sTzMMX2sZLbgX_W58-1NQqXi5Qsx6MBZ3fdl25az8tWmg/s1600/IMG_3564.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlDZKXgBwZrXHWp91Ug34wjF0Rwj9uHpmjgFop2aBHq7XRoXluD4iYLWa96Jwk1_GMpDFAeAmJ8W4cWKpQERV0DLW5Fc_Z_sTzMMX2sZLbgX_W58-1NQqXi5Qsx6MBZ3fdl25az8tWmg/s1600/IMG_3564.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the things I intend to do more, is getting more of our photo's off my computer and into our life. I know I'm doing this with Project Life. But maybe it is <em>because</em> I'm doing a backdated PL album, that I'm discovering so many photo's I love, but have completely forgotten about. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I want them in my everyday.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So here's a simple and quick start I've made: I've known about this feature on my photo editing program for a long time, but never actually did anything with it. Then I saw a post by <a href="http://www.eliseblaha.typepad.com/">Elise</a> (can't find the exact post now) where she used a cell phone app to art up her photo's, and thought I'd give it a try.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used filters on my Microsoft photo editing program. It came for free with Microsoft - but if you don't have it, I suspect most editing programs would have a similar feature. Mine has all kinds of options such as watercolour, charcoal, colour pencil etc. It's as easy as going to Filters and selecting one , applying it and deciding if you like it. You can even combine filters, lighten it afterwards and just play around. I liked photo's where you didn't see full faces.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here I used colour pencil and printed (normal photocopying) it on textured off-white cardstock.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think it could also work great if you want to try out doing some art, and first see what it might look like as a watercolour for example. Or you might start out with printing this and then further touch it up with watercolour. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw4-Y1DzEzj7hID-JC7vOeIvckevkkOF57O40w3PvE3_fs6YlO8v2RgkADZCyyovtjp_e9O45v34u_RPy6XP6xAjW90ldM_iAVP9BhhQblr07B-h3aNO_4MoKZybPmE0ZuNTKeYsqgUQ/s1600/IMG_3923.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw4-Y1DzEzj7hID-JC7vOeIvckevkkOF57O40w3PvE3_fs6YlO8v2RgkADZCyyovtjp_e9O45v34u_RPy6XP6xAjW90ldM_iAVP9BhhQblr07B-h3aNO_4MoKZybPmE0ZuNTKeYsqgUQ/s1600/IMG_3923.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Coincidentally I popped into this gallery passing through Dullstroom recently, and saw some canvasses on display using this very same thing. Pictures of landscapes and wildlife, digitally turned into watercolours and printed onto canvas. Come to think of it, <em>this</em> would make a nice watercolour. </div>

Hello and welcome to Week 24 February - 2 March. Yesterday as I started to "work" on this post, I ended up writing a whole story on this season where my husband is working away from home (blogged yesterday). Well, of all the challenging weeks we had, this one was probably the most difficult. So yes, I was in Eeyore mode here...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So this week tells of my exasperation with another Monday (they come a lot faster than Week-ends around here). I was sick with a postnasal infection this week, and hubby had to leave earlier than planned, and I received other bad news as well, so just not a great day. It was also another week of lots of rain. I finally went to the doctor for antibiotics on Wednesday (when I started to suspect something was growing in my throat - sorry to gross anyone out) and did a little "cost analysis".</div>

Things got more positive after the meds worked so amazingly fast. Reuben discovered Scoobies, Theunis (who was also sick on site this week) picked me flowers in the veld on his way home, and I made Apple crumble. I cut some words from a kit card and adhered it onto the photo. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Eventually I felt that while the page looked right for the mood I was in that week, it just felt too dark, so I decided to cut out the last photo and put it on a white piece of vellum with some journaling around. A bad week in some ways, but all part of the story. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>Can</em> <em>I</em> <em>get</em> <em>spiritual</em>? Here's what God ministered to me when I was really down during that week and just invited His Spirit to speak to me: I was reminded of the story of Jacob in the Bible, who discovered that he married Leah instead of Rebecca. Everything seemed to have gone wrong, I suppose. But everything was in fact going exactly right in the bigger scheme of things:- There had to be 12 sons for the 12 tribes of Israel (twelve is a very significant number for completion in the Bible). There had to be two sons distinct from the rest. One to go ahead into Egypt, and another to bring the others into Egypt. And they all had to end up in Egypt for the whole Exodus story to unfold, which is forever a picture of God's deliverance out of the slavery of sin. So sometimes, even when everything seems to be going all wrong, it might just be going all right. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(I still don't know the purpose of this particular week, but it's ok.) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>Hope that encourages someone.</em></div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8P51YYhvmOz44BL_TmKH0PNl27YKZfdKczQ-SxYv1UxeenvcGfve0k7X8TWe5akpSoirQi_doKuf587UOy0G5bqGkgWfCUfopWnEBV4XSGgq8-6EAnLgttbt4OPnPG0pWcNok5lXDiQ/s1600/IMG_3754BIG.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8P51YYhvmOz44BL_TmKH0PNl27YKZfdKczQ-SxYv1UxeenvcGfve0k7X8TWe5akpSoirQi_doKuf587UOy0G5bqGkgWfCUfopWnEBV4XSGgq8-6EAnLgttbt4OPnPG0pWcNok5lXDiQ/s1600/IMG_3754BIG.JPG" height="640" width="425" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Some of you might know from reading here, that we've been doing the "husband works elsewhere thing" for more than six months now. I don't want to go on about it too much, as I have friends and acquaintances facing <em>much</em> harder challenges than me. <em>Really</em> hard things- like husbands with serious illnesses and operations, and hospital bills and losing everything kinds of challenges. I do that a lot, remind myself that mine is <em>nothing</em> in comparison. And I certainly know that there's many amazing single (and even married) Mom's out there doing - in practical terms- this and more indefinitely.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But the reality is that this is tough. It's a constant living outside of your comfort zone, finding a new "normal", and then having him home for a bit, and realising that this is what comfort really feels like, and then having to say goodbye again and again. The (somewhat dramatic) picture I have of this past term is me pushing a huge boulder up a hill, not being able to emotionally focus on much else. <em>(Isn't that</em> <em>what</em> <em>a</em> <em>growth</em> <em>curve</em> <em>feels</em> <em>like?)</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's having so little time for anything (rest, admin talk, kids, even fighting and making up). It's the kids not having their Dad around. It's being without his present support and strength. It's being in "open heart wife mode", but having to function in "I don't need a man independent mode". It's me not having him around when things are tough- like when I'm sick, or when the geyser leaks and water starts dripping from the ceiling.. or the gate remote won't work.. or an unexpected all day/ night power failure, or a creepy insect inside at bedtime.. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've done different things to cope: leaned on God, stayed busy, isolated myself, shared with friends, cocooned with my kids, went into robot mode, indulged in chocolate, indulged in Pinterest, blogged, caught up on Project Life, worked on my dreams. Long conversations on cranky phone lines helps. I've kept it all in, and I've cried a little....I've tried to "be awesome instead".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's definitely had it's positives though... Both me and him had time to grow independently in this time, grow stronger in different areas. We were once again assured that our unity can overcome many obstacles. I've gotten better at accepting help from others. I've seen again what amazingly grounded and adaptable boys we have. I've seen how I can adapt to a new place of contentment. I've again realised what we have is truly special. I've learnt that people mostly don't really understand and it's ok. I've experienced so much grace from God. I've learnt this is a process for me, and to be patient and gentle with myself. To say no to things that stretch me too much time wise. I've found a new rhythm at home, what once felt like hard, now feels like everyday routine. I've built boulder-pushing muscles. ..And I've learnt how to help a Praying Mantis out the door at 10pm.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm sooo looking forward to a new season coming soon, where he'll be working near home. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But till then- was it Elise that came up with "I can't do this, but I'm doing it anyway." ?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ps: This started out as the intro to my PL post, and then the words just came. It's the most personal that I've gone on this blog, so a bit of a stretch here.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Welcome to week 17 - 23 February... where things get a little gloomy around here. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCVjJsF-Wq3dFPyfrz0IbzLVZjmvQhb1O-uOXEk0vUa49ImcvV7CLDdtFdbtILtp8OF35WAfE8pZadZaebxqoNwOLQcXX39ICSURs5AeIUxOIpNAlI0mXx_fI7qOFBmG1zBj-Gh86Kxw/s1600/IMG_4101n.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCVjJsF-Wq3dFPyfrz0IbzLVZjmvQhb1O-uOXEk0vUa49ImcvV7CLDdtFdbtILtp8OF35WAfE8pZadZaebxqoNwOLQcXX39ICSURs5AeIUxOIpNAlI0mXx_fI7qOFBmG1zBj-Gh86Kxw/s1600/IMG_4101n.JPG" height="206" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First the boys each had a turn to be sick, and then, starting over the week-end, it was my turn.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghF44FtpyeKD9S9fIpSAPJu69USuLYF9QlYcXfvQvJM3Cq7g86_WiagfRIZXXnrMZqsuShjk6nEHqMrsM3Ge00_cCjMB0A-G_OpJ2S8KVuuvsI9x7ij1keShDjUwL1_-AreMcns7FpKA/s1600/IMG_4080k.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghF44FtpyeKD9S9fIpSAPJu69USuLYF9QlYcXfvQvJM3Cq7g86_WiagfRIZXXnrMZqsuShjk6nEHqMrsM3Ge00_cCjMB0A-G_OpJ2S8KVuuvsI9x7ij1keShDjUwL1_-AreMcns7FpKA/s1600/IMG_4080k.JPG" height="400" width="397" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But as I've journaled here, I do embrace sick days as a special time for me and the kids to just <em>be. </em>Especially if it's one on one time. I really try making this a time for them to feel comforted and enjoy their more quiet than usual play activities. Sometimes I would drop everything and sit with them on the couch and watch a movie, something we don't usually get around to do. I find this a special blessing of having a very flexible schedule. And even when I do have things scheduled , it's a no-brainer for me to cancel them when my kids are sick. I hope even sick days will one day be a happy memory to them.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first photo is about it raining while the sun shines. "Monkeys wedding". Happens from time to time here in Jo'burg. Liam(6) took that photo of me. He seems to have an <em>eye</em>. I downloaded the Brothers and Sisters photo from the internet. I know we're very late on the bus, but we are so enjoying working through this series. And the last one is a flapjacks/drumming session. I added a grid card from previous kit.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love Reuben's bird drawing with a signature added. And I regret not taking a photo of my once white, now chocolate brown duvet cover after Zoe rolled around on it while all wet and muddy. (Too exasperated at the time). Did include a "note" to her to please refrain from that in future.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My photo's this week were less busy than other weeks, with a lot of white background, and I enjoyed seeing how the page got filled in with other elements and pattern.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was also the week we went a little Dutch around here. Reuben was doing a talk at school about our surname's country of origin, the Netherlands. Fun to research, put together an outfit for him and also visit a Windmill at Hartbeespoortdam.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took a video of his talk, and tried to generate one of those block codes, but I think it was too long, so it didn't work. So I included a Spongebob quote instead. I cut out a kit card for the speech bubble on the photo and popped it up a bit.</div>

For Valentine the kids got to wear red to school :: We had our bi-annual chuck-out at church. Lots of fun where everyone brings their unwanted stuff in the morning, and come and shop for free in the afternoon :: This was also the week I received the Coral kit all the way from England. So happy with this kit :: The heart, February card and "love" card are all freebies. You can visit my <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/alidap/pl-freebies-and-card-ideas/">PL freebie board on Pinterest</a> and hopefully find it there.</div>

Hi there, I'm back from a week away in the bush. And is it Tuesday already? Anyway, today I want to share the first two pages of the backdated 2009 album I'm working on. I've been taking about daily photo's back then, still having no idea that something like Project Life would come along. I've also kept a journal (something I'm no longer doing) and guess what, I recently discovered it in storage, which I thought was great timing. <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I haven't come up with a cover page yet, but this is Week One. I'm loving the Jade kit for this year. And as always I love Ali's word art on my photo's.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It documents bits of our life while we were still in Durban. The botanical gardens, the beach, and here you see the Moses Mabida stadium still being built for the world to come and play soccer in 2010.</div>

Life at home with two small kiddos. Discovering nature, baking, water play. Love love <em>love</em> working with these memories. I'm really looking forward to doing this album. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I always get weak at the memory of those curls, and wanted to print these photo's as enlargements. But when it came back from the printer as jumbo's I just worked around it and added some pattern paper on the side, and a kit card folded over.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And at the back of the insert I added another patterned card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ps: It was a nice surprise to discover (a little late) one of my pages featured at <a href="http://www.thepocketsource.com/gallery/list/featured">The Pocket Source</a></div>

Hello and welcome to Week 3-9 February. I've just been thinking that even when I see all my photo's together for printing, I still don't know how a page will turn out. They're mostly nice surprises. And I love it when something unexpected happens, like that red candy stripe showing through from the back of the next card. What can I say, love this Project Life. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week was pretty mellow. Lots of sorting out cupboards for chuck-out. And some fun that went with it. My Grade One 'r is reading. And a nice breakfast..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also recorded our evening routine and included a photo of Liam having a long chat with his Dad. Phone calls is a part of our nightly routine while T is on site. I trimmed down the "love" kit card to include it with the photo. The weekend we attended a seminar at church and went to Delta park afterwards. The kids are so outgrowing the (very big) playground equipment. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<em>And that's it for this week.</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used Word-art from Ali to make the "Hello Routine" card. And I'm using the Coral kit.</div>

I'm interrupting my PL posts to talk about my recent discovery of Lino printing. Yes, <em>Lino</em> . So many possibilities! I started a <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/alidap/lino-printing/">Lino Printing Pinterest board</a> and it's not even touching the tip of the iceberg of the many ideas out there. (The leaf seen here was inspired by tags I saw on my Pinterest board).<br />
<br />
How did it start? (Not Lino printing, just my very short history with Lino) I had the pleasure of spending a morning in an artist friend's studio, learning from her. She did art school and knew quite a bit about Lino printing. Unfortunately I didn't take my camera, and only took this picture afterwards.<br />
<br />
<em>Here's what I learned in a morning: </em><br />
<em></em><br />
- <em>Tools</em> <em>matter</em>: Get proper Lino cutting tools in stead of cheaper woodcutting tools (another friend brought along these and you couldn't use them on Lino).<br />
- The <em>real</em> <em>Lino</em> (brownish with a hessian backing) is easier to use than the cheaper grey version. But the cheap one worked ok enough. (Ours came from Herbert and Evans in Jo'burg).<br />
- If you work with the grey Lino, work on the shiny side.<br />
- <em>Sharp</em> <em>tools</em> make a huge difference. Sharpen them by putting a few drops of oil on fine sandpaper, and gently "colour" over it with the tool.<br />
- You need tracing paper to copy your design. Trace the design, place face down on Lino and trace. Detailed sections can just be coloured over and the picture will still transfer onto the Lino. <br />
- Remember that you'll have a <em>reverse</em> <em>copy</em> of your image on the Lino. Sometimes this matters, sometimes it doesn't. <br />
- Decide where you want <em>colour</em> and where not before you carve. Eg. The outline can be in colour (and the rest carved out), or it can be carved away and the rest in colour.<br />
- You can make your image in <em>more</em> <em>than</em> <em>one</em> <em>colour</em> by <br />
(a) printing, carving away more, printing in another colour and so forth. (This is tricky as your print has to be done in exactly the same place every time. You can set pins as guidelines to do this. Use cellotape to ensure that the pinholes don't get bigger) or <br />
(b) making two separate stamps, one with the outline and one with a colour area.<br />
- Work carefully, error lines will show.<br />
- First go around your outline with the knifelike tool. <em>Carve</em> out big areas with the rounded tool. Carve deep enough and always away from yourself. Work from your outline outwards.<br />
- To <em>print</em>: Put some paint (eg oilpaint) onto a piece of glass. Use a roller to apply it to evenly to your completed stamp. Paint should not be too thick, or it will run.<br />
- Place paper over your stamp and rub hard and repeatedly with the round part of a dessertspoon. This ensures a solid colour.<br />
- <em>Enjoy</em> your artwork.<br />
<br />
Still no expert, not even close, but I'm thinking of getting kitted out for some more Lino experiments. Until then I'll make some eraser stamps just for fun.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hello and welcome to Week 27 January - 2 February.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0VQZeDPo2UpXY75XFzEJUIKJG46BwIkUsfmiHgwmRUZWMJOTYqaaigmlTXZ4A6NLotgSVsxHsm0X7F8Ku-zxAg-gKC8kuOt_WlyQoXo6VvKOYAEBYOdvrpJTm7NB8CxKHbI8uT1UmHQ/s1600/IMG_3225k.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0VQZeDPo2UpXY75XFzEJUIKJG46BwIkUsfmiHgwmRUZWMJOTYqaaigmlTXZ4A6NLotgSVsxHsm0X7F8Ku-zxAg-gKC8kuOt_WlyQoXo6VvKOYAEBYOdvrpJTm7NB8CxKHbI8uT1UmHQ/s1600/IMG_3225k.JPG" height="200" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Looks like my eye was drawn to a lot of blue this week. It wasn't planned, but it is a great way to unify a page. There's a <a href="http://aliedwards.com/2014/03/project-life-2014-week-four.html">super example</a> on Ali's blog at the moment of how she unified a very busy page with a colour scheme.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV0x3CtgcwaQWMolvS-MVEO6aYjx-bSmbDcUPn0EoSCw5Gcp8bTT49DRHplcfolPTpv9nY72E09WF3tueIxefUwKw6JYHBHNBdN2aH1W2tbXtn8jDwDdArCR53vcfcdMDetl70L4h3hg/s1600/IMG_3216v.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV0x3CtgcwaQWMolvS-MVEO6aYjx-bSmbDcUPn0EoSCw5Gcp8bTT49DRHplcfolPTpv9nY72E09WF3tueIxefUwKw6JYHBHNBdN2aH1W2tbXtn8jDwDdArCR53vcfcdMDetl70L4h3hg/s1600/IMG_3216v.JPG" height="315" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bad light here, the sun must have ducked behind a cloud with-out me noticing while I was photographing this page. Sorry!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway...On this page I mostly documented our morning routine. Getting used to waking up alone over weekdays, fixing lunches and breakfast for the kids, etc. Just love that they go to school barefoot in the summer. My constant companion in the mornings at home is madame Zoe (though she's barely conscious through it all).</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Over here we have a little insert. Reuben taking up swimming, and some fun photo's from my laptop's camera.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And on the flipside: I'm always fascinated by the huge clouds here in Jo'burg. We call it big sky country. I added one of the transparent cards I had left over to a kit card. Another site photo, couldn't resist. Reuben playing with Birthday Leggo. T being home for four days, yeah! Some research (I) did for a school project about our surname's origin (found this impressive family crest), and some together moments. The stuff of everyday life.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Word art is from Ali Edwards, and my kit is the Coral edition from Becky Higgins.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hello and welcome to week 20-26 January. Yep, no part a or b, one week, one spread. Hooray!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
No big stories this week really. Except that I received my Jade kit by courier. I'll be using it for a backdated 2009 album. We are coughing it up for ivory around here too, as the boys are losing their baby teeth one after the other. Arrrgh me pirates! The planes are by Reuben. The insert is one of Liam's first writing practices from school.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Liam is very keen on his homework, which was mostly colouring in this week. Happy to find that blue wall at our local Spur. I went to see Walter Mitty during the week, right at the end of it's season here, and loved it so much that I had to take my husband and kids to see it in the same week. And a bit of clothing shopping - the tag is from my husband's clothes ;) btw.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's the other side of the insert. I added a journaling card and wrote about Liam adjusting to school. I also slipped in a questionare Reuben did at school about how well he knows his parents. Turns out he knows us quite well. Then I included School photo's taken around that time (I only received them later, but liked them in here.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2ZWK_Zm66dDm7icH6Up38_61dT9Wj6ZOaaSRF16GvDsjyd4zd0Il-Fams5Acwty6uMkt_BpqW2hgoMq6slIyeFmIXd13simSdSJjHnYNa1tUFFp7bZPu_L0IFvv_BwRyMiKJC1WjN6Q/s1600/IMG_3206h.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2ZWK_Zm66dDm7icH6Up38_61dT9Wj6ZOaaSRF16GvDsjyd4zd0Il-Fams5Acwty6uMkt_BpqW2hgoMq6slIyeFmIXd13simSdSJjHnYNa1tUFFp7bZPu_L0IFvv_BwRyMiKJC1WjN6Q/s1600/IMG_3206h.JPG" height="197" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And the other side. Ahh, school photo's. Gotta love them. I've been enjoying just carrying my husband's small Nikon over week-ends lately. Most week-end photo's are from this little camera. Love the wider lens.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And that's it for Week 4.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
